With more than 2,500 children requiring hospital treatment for scalds each year, the need to regulate the temperature of hot water in the home is obvious.
Mary Creagh, MP for Wakefield, has highlighted this with her Private Members’ Bill in the House of Commons, which calls for the installation of thermostatic mixing valves in all new homes.
Mira Showers has long been aware of this need to manage the temperate of hot water and as such offers a wide range of showers that feature thermostatic controls as standard.
The Mira Magna, a digital mixer shower, not only checks water temperature 40 times a second, but has precise settings and maximum temperature lock for added protection. The Mira Excel mixer range can similarly be set to a maximum temperature and a thermostat inside responds to changes in incoming water to keep the temperature constant even if someone turns on a tap or flushes the toilet.
And these safety features are not just restricted to mixer showers – Mira’s electric Sport Thermostatic and Escape Thermostatic use Mira patented sensi-flo technology to monitor the flow of water, turning the heat off if it is obstructed for any reason.
Roger Wilson, managing director at Mira, said, “Safety in the bathroom has long been a priority for us and we welcome any moves that are made towards reducing the number of scalding-related accidents, especially among children and more vulnerable groups.”
Rada, Mira’s sister company specialises in equipment for safe showering. The ranges of showers, brassware and shower panels are designed for use in commercial premises such as hospitals, care homes, hotel and leisure facilities.
